Ray Stevens--Born--January 24, 1939, Clarkdale, Ga (83)

Quote: Harold Ray Ragsdale, known professionally as Ray Stevens, is an American country and pop singer-songwriter and comedian, known for his Grammy-winning recordings "Everything Is Beautiful" and "Misty", as well as comedic hits such as "Gitarzan" and "The Streak". He has received gold albums for his music sales. He has worked as a producer, music arranger, and television host. He is an inductee of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and the Christian Music Hall of Fame, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Unquote

This is a well-loved man because he was so funny, and it was clean family fun. I was allowed to buy his records, which was a real treat because my mother was so strict. It took me two years to talk her into buying an Elvis record. She didn't like his moves--they were obscene she said. Until my Angel Grandmother reminded her of the Jitterbug she and her friends danced.

I love Ray Stevens--he is one of a kind. Ray has faced a lot of sadness in the last few years. In 2020 his only brother John who was an actor and songwriter died. Then, in 2021 his wife Penny Jackson Ragsdale died on December 31, 2021. They were married 60 years. They had two daughters per my research.
